In England....
where in the 19th century they
awakened the world to decorative arts... The English Style... everything was designed to the nth degree...
carved and polished...
sculpted and painted...
each created to please the
most discerning eye...
It was the time of Queen Victoria...

And just like today... the taste and style of
those in power is admired and copied...
Today's London is not only filled with the
treasures of the past... but it's also filled with the latest fashion... marvelous shows... and even terrific restaurants... the English... never known for their food before... have finally got it right...

The food's great and they even have
Starbucks... I have to say the antiquing is not the same... Camden Passage is very sad to those of us who remember it full of
breathtaking oddities...

The delightful Saturday Portobello Road
antique market is very crowded with coffee shops and T-shirt shops... A few brave
dealers still hold out... But... now you have to scour the individual antique shops on
New Kings Road... Kensington Church St... Pimlico Road and Fulham Road...

London still has its wonderful
architecture... Westminster Abby...
Big Ben... Victoria & Albert Museum...
Tower Bridge... intriguing shopping
arcades... the changing of the Guard...
delightful pubs...
and you have to see Harrod's food halls...
It may rain... but the flowers don't mind...
the cab drivers are humorous...
know where they're going...
And everyone speaks English !!!!!!
