Hand-carved 19th century Japanese hardwood box or tobacco jar. Designed as two monkeys in a garden tree that is shaped around them. Meticulously carved from one large piece of wood with fine detail to tree and monkeys. Decorated with carved pieces of mother-of-pearl that accent the garden leaves.
