THERMOSCOPE

THERMOSCOPE
Vintage style Galilean liquid thermometer or thermoscope. The father of modern astronomy invented the thermoscope when he discovered that the density of a liquid changes in proportion to its temperature. In these glass spheres, when the air temperature changes, then the temperature and density of the water changes, which causes some of the glass bubbles to float and others to sink as the temperature fluctuates. The lowest floating sphere is the current temperature. 17.5"High
